Bank Teller Interview Tips for Success
Practice Questions
When you are preparing for a bank teller interview, you will want to
practice answering questions that might come up during the interview.
There are many different questions that could be asked, however, most of
them will be around the same general themes. For example, you will most
likely be asked something like, "What would you do if a customer was
unsatisfied with a transaction?" Dealing with customers is a very
important part of the job of a bank teller and most banks will want to
know how you handle disputes.
Another question might be, "How do you handle performing a number of
tasks without much time to accomplish them?" When there are many
customers in line at the bank, you have to provide quick service, but
you also have to be very detailed and make sure to avoid any mistakes.
For a few days before the interview, make sure that you practice
answering any questions that you think they might ask. Try to be as
thorough as possible with the different questions that you use. Practice
answering the questions out loud as well.
Professional Dress
When applying for any position in a bank, you will want to make sure
that you dress very professionally. Wearing a business suit will be your
best bet for this situation. You should not worry about being
overdressed, and focus on professionalism at all times.
Be Outgoing
During the interview, you need to try and convey the fact that you
are an outgoing individual. Being a bank teller will involve constant
interaction with customers. Therefore, the person that is hiring for
this position will be looking for those that are outgoing and good with
people. They want to hire someone that will represent their company in a
professional manner and go out of their way to help customers.
Emphasize Reliability
While you are talking to your interviewer, try to emphasize that you
are very reliable and punctual. When you work for a bank, they will
expect you to be on time to work everyday. They will also want someone
that they can count on every day as well. When you are handling
thousands of dollars in cash everyday, you have to be a very reliable
individual that can learn a system and follow it. If you cannot be
counted on to do this, they will not want to bring you on board.
Mention Honesty
Banks are also looking for honest individuals with a high degree of
integrity. You need to be sure and point out that you are very honest
and have a good personal history. Banks do not want anyone that has a
history of crime or dishonesty. Otherwise, they will not be able to
count on you to handle large amounts of money.
